Project Life: Week 1 in real life

So!

Finally I got my page protectors (ad found out they were the wrong size), got some of my supplies (and realized I’ve ordered not enough and re-ordering will cost me a small fortune)… I’ve printed a huge number of photos in anticipation and the first lessons I learned – never print the photos before you know what you want to do, how exactly you want your layout to be!

I ended up using those planning sheets I’ve seen some other people use. It’s great help, and I couldn’t do this project without it anymore. So here is my week 1.

Here is the sketch I’ve prepared before I set off to actually put everything together

and here is the result:-) I used most of my One line Journal posts and included one photo that actually was taken on Christmas day. On the back side of the middle page I’ve printed recipes of what we cooked for New year’s dinner.

Project Life freebie: an 8 frames template

I found myself over the last couple of weeks having way too much photos and I didn’t feel like I could possible not include them. But even though I was keen to keep them their quality some times wasn’t the greatest so printing them 6×4 and in large numbers (extra 5-8 photos a week) wasn’t very appealing to me.

Tonight I found a solution! Firstly I had to learn how to create templates in PSE, though :-)

So, I came up with a template for 8 square photos on a 6×4 photo sheet and there is enough space for journaling in the middle. In my example of how it looks I’ve used two free fonts. Both of them I’ve downloaded from dafont.com. It’s Another Typewriter and Arsenale White for the hand written bit.

Here is  the link to the download. I’ve created the template using Photoshop Elements 9.

Project Life: Journaling Prompts

Not mine but extremely useful and helps me a lot to write things down I other wise would have not documented.

PL’ 12: Week Two layout

Here is my sketch for the second week. I am not 100% convinced it’s the best way to place the photos and even that these are the best photos. I have also tons of things I would want to keep: appointment card for Henry’s psychologist, cover from his New year’s present he received this week, a small flyer from the aquarium we went to… And then there is the inserted page to cover a more serious matter. I am so looking forward to finally receiving the page protectors – I wonder how similar to these sketches the actual pages will look like:-)

Project Life Free Printable Quote

Here is another freebie. I want to use it for this week myself. It’s for the 3×4 pocket and maybe you find it useful too. Simply click on the image and then, when the new page opens right-click and save on your computer. For me, this quote has a lot of meaning, particularly this week. Something to be aware of, something to remind ourselves over and over again, I think…
